CPL welcomes Kathy Brockmeier, the GED instructor as she holds "classes" in our lower level beginning this week. Another full circle like the Forum Club, the GED classes were originally held in the Friendship Room of the old library facility. Brockmeier is associated with the State Fair Community College based in Sedalia. She will hold classes every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The library now houses the GED education classes from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm on the indicated days for those patrons needing this service. The benefit for the library is reaching more patrons, providing another service to our community while holding true to our mission statement of being a resource for education. (posted 8/28/09)

As things get ironed out, CPL will now have better response to our interlibrary loan requests. Through a federal funded grant called "Get Connected", the Missouri State Library for the benefit of improving communications and interlibrary loans is now offering free courier service between libraries. For our patron's benefit, this means that we will now have quicker response time and quicker delivery service for the researcher's non-fiction books or the fiction titles books not currently on our shelves.
